Personal Branding 101

How do today’s business professionals at all levels stand out in the crowded global economy? According to marketing strategy consultant Dorie Clark, the answer is reputation management. “Your personal brand is your calling card,” Clark tells GLG, and aligning how people perceive you with how you would like to be perceived is key. Clark believes content creation is not just an asset, it’s now “mandatory” for those looking to advance in their careers. She sees new distribution channels that showcase your views and talents as an essential part of selling your personal brand. GLG sits down with Dorie Clark to discuss how to be an advocate for yourself, better manage your reputation, and more.

Dorie Clark is the author of Reinventing You and Stand Out—Inc. magazine’s #1 Leadership Book of 2015. A former presidential campaign spokeswoman, the New York Times once described Clark as an “expert at self-reinvention and helping others make changes in their lives.” She is a frequent contributor to the Harvard Business Review, TIME, and Entrepreneur. Clark is also a marketing strategy consultant and speaker for clients such as Google, Microsoft, Yale University, Fidelity, and the World Bank. Clark currently serves as an adjunct professor of Business Administration at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
