GLG is the world’s insight network, bringing decision makers the insight it takes to get ahead. GLG’s network of experts is the world’s largest and most varied source of first-hand expertise, with thousands of new experts recruited every week.
GLG Social Impact is the company’s award-winning initiative that supports nonprofits, foundations, and impact funds to help solve the world’s most urgent challenges. The annual GLG Social Impact Fellowship provides select nonprofits and social enterprises with a two-year pro bono partnership with GLG, including access to the full suite of GLG product offerings and the support of dedicated GLG client service teams, as well as continued alumnus support.
The 2023 Fellowship is open to organizations working across social and humanitarian issues globally, including but not limited to education, environment, global health, and social justice. This year, it is also focused on supporting organizations providing humanitarian relief in response to natural disasters and violent conflicts.
“Our work has always been guided by the belief that real insight leads to better decisions and solutions – and over the past decade, our Social Impact Fellowship has demonstrated that a single phone call with an expert can not only inform an important decision, but change thousands of lives,” said GLG CEO Paul Todd. “We look forward to welcoming a new class of innovators to our global community and helping them better people’s lives worldwide.”
The GLG Social Impact Fellowship has supported 85 social innovators since its launch in 2014. Their organizations focus on a wide range of urgent issues and affect the lives of tens of millions of people around the world each year. A 2022 third-party assessment demonstrated the significant and lasting benefits that Fellow organizations receive from the program, including the ability to accelerate impact, build capacity, and develop professionally. “We’re immensely proud of the partnerships we’ve developed with so many extraordinary Fellows, and gratified to reflect on the impact we’ve made together, which continues to ripple through communities around the world,” said GLG VP and Head of Social Impact Jen Field. “We can’t wait to welcome this milestone class of Fellows.”
“With growth comes huge challenges – being a small business-for-good startup, we don’t always have access to the expertise we desire, or indeed the budget or the network of a large company to accelerate the business to the next stage,” said 2022 Fellow Robin Ferris, Founder and CEO of Bankuet, a UK-based business for good whose digital zero-waste food donation platform is the number one supplier of food and other essential items to food banks in the UK. “The GLG Social Impact Fellowship couldn’t have come at a better time. Being able to react quickly to challenges and access experts is a phenomenal gift for us.”
“GLG is a superpower,” said 2020 Fellow Clementine Jacoby, Executive Director of Recidiviz, a U.S.-based nonprofit that partners with U.S. state governments to reduce recidivism with innovative data systems and technology. “GLG experts have been transformative – not only in the early stages of product development, when you need a depth of expertise, but also for process- and people-related questions. It saved us so much time for user experience research, impact analysis, and operational challenges.”
“Being a part of the GLG Social Impact Fellowship has been one of the most transformational opportunities in our 15-year history,” said 2019 Fellow Cristi Hegranes, CEO and Publisher of Global Press, an international nonprofit that trains and employs female journalists in the world’s least-covered markets to produce ethical and accurate news coverage. “The ability to get smart quickly on a topic has fast-tracked many of our important decisions.”
Applications for the Fellowship are highly competitive, with selection criteria based on organization mission and model, existing impact, future goals, operational capacity, and need for the expertise that GLG offers. Applicants must be the Founder, Executive Director, President, or CEO of a nonprofit or social enterprise with an innovative model creating demonstrable social change. Once an organization is selected for the Fellowship, all of its team members receive pro bono access to GLG. Full selection criteria are detailed here.
