Job Summary

GLG is seeking an experienced marketer to join our APAC marketing team in Japan, as a Japan Marketing Manager.

The Marketing Manager, Japan, will support the development of go-to-market messaging, engagement and lead-gen campaigns, and marketing strategies across the Financial Services, Corporates, and Professional Services Firm clients, reporting to the Head of APAC marketing. He/she will be tasked with working closely with Japan business team to build awareness, effectively communicate new offerings, drive engagement among existing clients and support acquisition of new clients.

This person will use data and business analytics to help identify and design specific marketing plans and assist in carrying out the execution of these plans and activities, working closely with the business unit and centralized marketing team. The ideal candidate will be ready to take on entrepreneurial role that will require strong influencer skills as well as a deep B2B marketing toolkit.

Focused on revenue generating activities, the ideal candidate will bring a diverse array of analytical and creative skills to the team. The candidate will support efforts across new business generation, client demand generation and cross-sell, content creation, and more. He/she will also support the materials, technology, and tactics needed to move customers throughout the funnel - from programs to build awareness, to sales materials and case studies, to automated campaigns to stay top-of-mind. This role will heavily influence the strategy by collecting and presenting data and building marketing business cases to be presented to business leadership teams. The candidate will be both a great storyteller and adaptable to work on many different types of projects often in parallel.


Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Support and develop marketing strategies for target industries and target accounts
  • Identify business needs and make the case for compelling content and messages for target customers, develop market positioning and messaging that differentiates our offerings in Japan market
  • Build strategies across outbound channels to engage target customers (e.g. Marketo, LinkedIn)
  • Leverage program performance data and optimize always-on program
  • Maintain and improve website performance and SEO rankings
  • Establish and build local marketing partnerships and Japan-relevant engagement with digital and media agencies
  • Support data evaluation, marketing reporting and idea pipeline
  • Develop and support marketing programs to increase brand awareness, drive user engagement, and support top-of-funnel efforts
  • Draw on qualitative and quantitative insights to understand service usage. Use this info to make the case for new, and optimize existing, marketing campaigns
  • Manage the execution of projects, coordinating with both the business unit and the central marketing team
  • Collaborate with the Events manager on the strategy and execution of marketing webcast programs

An ideal candidate will have the following:

  • 6-8 years of marketing experience, preferably with B2B financial services or technology marketing expertise in MNC
  • Business proficiency in English and Japanese
  • Experience with Salesforce and a marketing automation platform (Marketo, preferred).
  • Experience working with marketing analytics data (email and website metrics, SEO metrics, Google Analytics, etc)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to collaborate; effectively working across multiple levels, roles, and functions in the organization.
