Job Summary  

 

GLG Events provides unique, market-moving insights and perspectives on current events and market trends by leveraging the voices of the world’s leading professionals. The Events team identifies, researches, and curates additive content across a variety of subject areas, and creates in person or virtual events featuring the top experts. 

 

We are seeking an experienced professional to run our Consumer Goods & Services and Energy & Industrials Events’ Content teams. This entails leading a team of research and content professionals in the creation of in-person and virtual meetings designed to engage equities investors, focused on industry topics. The candidate, in conjunction with the teams, will assess controversies surrounding public equities, identify experts who can address the issues, and conduct in depth interviews to help public markets investors. The candidate will help lead a fast-growing business unit of the market leader to further differentiate the firm from its competitors.  

 

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to): 

  • Lead a team of research and content professionals who are responsible for identifying and researching compelling topics  for public equity investor audiences, that they will leverage to create virtual and in-person events 
  • Serve as the leading editorial voice for GLG’s Consumer Goods & Services and Energy & Industrials events portfolios and oversee the development and thematic direction of its event programming  
  • Conversant in financial markets, able to identify compelling market trends, and develop relationships with clients, former C-level executives, outside consultants, and internal partners. 
  • Along with the other Content Team Leaders, report to and partner with the Americas Head of Public Equities Events to set the strategy for GLG’s Events, grow its P&L, acquire and retain users, support decision making, and implement key initiatives   
  • Lead the development of the editorial calendar for GLG’s three primary event products for industry-focused public equities-related event programming: small group meetings (In person and Remote Roundtables), expert interviews (Webcasts/Teleconferences), and 1x1 meetings (Visits)   
  • Lead the implementation of GLG’s user-focused event strategy for public equities investors, building our live and virtual meeting calendar, and ensuring all events meet GLG’s quality standards  
  • Interview and moderate discussions with former executives, regulators, and consultants in both live and virtual settings 
  • Cultivate communities of likeminded users around common areas of interest, and teach others to do the same. Demonstrate sound editorial judgement, including selecting event topics and speakers and curating conversations that clients find relevant and additive   
  • Mentor and develop junior talent to become solid content curators, helping them to understand the investor mindset and how to apply that to generating successful events 

  

An ideal candidate will have the following:  

  • 5+ years of experience conducting research and/or developing an editorial viewpoint of industry topics. This includes but is not limited to journalism, equity research, industry or market research, corporate development or M&A  
  • Ability to lead a team with diverse backgrounds to achieve measure-able (ideally revenue-correlated) goals  
  • A track record and passion for managing, mentoring, and developing junior talent is preferred  
  • Experience in financial services and a deep understanding of investment strategies is preferred  
  • Ability to “connect the dots” and program timely/relevant events on compelling topics 
  • Ability to collaborate across teams, exert influence and work within an organization 
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills across Business Development, Operations and Marketing functions  
  • Possess an entrepreneurial spirit and ability to navigate ambiguity to continue to grow the business
