Business Development Manager (DACH) - Private Equity Clients

Job Summary

The Business Development Manager (DACH) – Private Equity is a key client-facing role on GLG’s private equity sales team that plays a vital part in GLG's relationships with financial services institutions in EMEA. The Business Development Manager will be responsible for driving new business with clients by engaging users within the private equity segment, helping them fully realise the value of GLG's platform. At GLG you will have both the opportunity to progress quickly and to also work in a collaborative environment.

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Effectively differentiate GLG against other advisory services firms in the private equity market - Identify, meet with, and close deals with executive clients
  • Develop a business plan and sales strategy for assigned territories that executes against a high-revenue growth imperative and increased profitability
  • Plan for and execute against a revenue target to win new business with prospects
  • Engage key constituents at clients as a thought partner, with a heavy focus on senior-level decision makers, in order to understand these clients’ work, differentiate the company’s brand, and tailor value proposition to these critical influencers
  • Coordinate closely with colleagues across company teams, particularly with stakeholders on client servicing teams
  • Effectively forecast future revenue and demonstrate strong pipeline management skills
  • Provide input into the commercial plan for the region by providing voice of customer feedback on emerging client needs
  • Share best commercial practices across the EMEA team

Key performance metrics for this role include:

  • Performance to closed deals and revenue target
  • Personal performance to target
  • Effectiveness of senior-level client engagement
  • Adoption by clients of new products and systems

An ideal candidate will have the following:

  • 4-7 years of work experience within a sales (inside sales, new business development) role in relevant industries such as financial services or working with financial services firms as clients (preferred)
  • A strong passion for persuasion – especially around complicated and intellectually challenging issues
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across teams and business units to achieve success
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Executive presence, the ability to interact with senior executives and professionals
  • Resilience/strength of character: the willingness to take risks and overcome failures
  • The highest level of integrity and professionalism
  • Creative and entrepreneurial mindset; interested in helping to build a business and to be compensated according to performance
  • Ability and initiative to handle increasing responsibility over time
  • Bachelors degree or above or equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge of private equity and/or financial markets preferred, but not essential
  • Experience selling subscription-based services into the DACH market
  • Full business proficiency in English and German
