Account Manager/Business Development Manager - Life Sciences EMEA

Job Summary

The Business Development Manager – Life Sciences is a key client-facing role on GLG’s Corporate Sales team that plays a vital part in GLG's relationships with leading pharmaceuticals, healthcare technology and life sciences companies in EMEA. The Business Development Manager will be responsible for driving new business with clients by engaging users within the biotech and mid-size pharma segment, helping them fully realise the value of GLG's platform. At GLG you will have both the opportunity to opportunity to rapidly develop by working in a collaborative, cross-functional, team environment.

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Identify, meet with, and close deals with existing and new client organizations
  • Engage key constituents at clients as a thought partner, with a heavy focus on senior-level decision makers, to uncover pain points and provide tailored solutions to their needs
  • Co-develop a segment specific sales strategy and plan the execution to achieve high growth revenue targets and increased profitability based on a portfolio of clients and prospects
  • Coordinate closely with colleagues across company teams, particularly with client servicing teams
  • Provide real-time analysis of account activity, usage trends, and company development of new products
  • Effectively forecast future revenue and where that revenue will come from
  • Provide input into the commercial plan for the region by providing voice of customer feedback on emerging client needs
  • Share best commercial practices across the EMEA team and mentor junior associates

Key performance metrics for this role include:

  • Deals closed deals and team revenue target
  • Personal performance to closed deals target
  • Effectiveness of senior-level client engagement
  • Adoption by clients of new products and systems

An ideal candidate will have the following:

  • 4-7 years of work experience within a sales (inside sales, new business development) role in relevant industries such as Life Sciences, Healthcare, Pharmaceuticals etc.
  • A strong passion for persuasion – especially around complicated and intellectually challenging issues - Demonstrated ability to work effectively across teams and business units to achieve success
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Executive presence, the ability to interact with senior executives and professionals
  • Resilience/strength of character: the willingness to take risks and overcome failures
  • The highest level of integrity and professionalism
  • Creative and entrepreneurial mindset; interested in helping to build a business and to be compensated according to performance
  • Ability and initiative to handle increasing responsibility over time
  • Bachelors degree or above or equivalent work experience
  • Full business proficiency in English
