Milken 2019: The Power of Insight in Action

I’m excited to be back in LA for the Milken Global Conference, which begins today, and which GLG is sponsoring for a sixth consecutive year. A common thread running through most things at Milken this week: the smart energy in the global business community is moving, in real time, towards solutions that make the world work better for everyone. That’s an overdue shift, still in process, but it’s one we’re proud to be a part of at GLG.

I’m here with our GLG CEO Paul Todd, and today we’re headed to What Matters Now, a series of Sunday briefings for sponsors and partners that kick off the conference. We’re also excited and proud once again to be hosting our annual dinner saluting our GLG Social Impact Fellows tomorrow night. We’ll be joined by GLG Director of Social Impact Jen Field, several of our Fellows, GLG clients, and other leaders in town for the Conference.

At GLG, the power of insight in action is what drives our business. It’s also what drives the Milken Conference, which was founded to put business expertise to work solving big social challenges. So I’m particularly excited for these discussions tomorrow:

We need more women in power if we stand any chance of solving our nation’s most urgent challenges. I’m especially excited to hear from Michèle Flournoy, former Under-Secretary of Defense under President Obama, whom I really admire.

As a board member of the State University of New York (SUNY), I’m honored to serve the nearly 1.3 million students enrolled in the largest comprehensive university system in the country. I’m eager to hear the thinking from this panel of leaders from all different kinds of universities, both public and private.

A panel that tackles how to lead through demographic, technological, and cultural shifts that are changing the shape of the workforce, and of work itself. It’s a subject none of the world’s best companies can afford to overlook.
